Discussion Groups

August Book Club
During August, members of St Michael’s are encouraged to read a book commended in the Christian Book of the Year Awards from the previous year.
This activity invites our church community into a month of conversation on a shared story. At the conclusion of the month we have a ‘Meet the Author’ Evening where he/she can share further with us about their book and field our questions.

Last year, our book reading was ‘Our Mob, God’s Story’. This book explores the Bible story through indigenous art.

The following is a list of books previously read in our August Book Club:

2016 – ‘Captains of the Soul’ by Michael Galdwin.
2015 – ‘The Great Bible Swindle’ by Greg Clarke
2014 – ‘Forged with Flames’ by  Ann Fogarty

St Michael’s Singers
You are warmly welcome to join our church choir, the St Michael’s Singers.
The Singers are a mixed group soprano, alto, tenor, bass choir, who relish the fun of singing together.  Their musical repertoire is classical and modern church music, with some wonderful jazz pieces too.
They meet at the Church weekly on Sunday at 9am before the 10am service.
The Singers have a rich history, performing under former St Michael’s Rector, Canon Lawrence Bartlett as choirmaster and organist. If you are interested in auditioning, please contact Jennifer Glasson 0410 420 933.
The ability to read music is a great help, but not to the exclusion of someone who can quickly pick up a part. New basses and tenors are particularly needed.
